KURNOOL: K. P. Mishra, senior cardiologist at Kalinga Hospital at Bubhaneswar and ECG expert, has called upon medical professionals and policy makers to work for averting health emergency in the country by 2020. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), India will be world capital of diabetes, hypertension and heart attacks by 2020. The d-day is only 13 years away, he said. Delivering a talk on `Art and science of living' here on Sunday , he said human body was the most valuable thing ever invented by nature. According to a research, the raw materials alone in a human body cost 6, 000 trillion dollars. One could imagine the value of human body with life in it. He said both knowledge of science and spirituality was important for a happy living. In the absence of any of them, life would be meaningless. Science without compassion, concern and love for fellow beings was useless, he said. Similarly, science contributed a lot for a prosperous living. Dr. Mishra said undue importance was given to development of science and nuclear bombs were stockpiled, which could destroy the globe in seven minutes. Nobody would accept it as meaningful progress, he averred. According to him, Gautama Buddha was the first spiritual leader, who tried to strike a balance between knowledge and love. DIG of Police K.R.M. Kishore Kumar, Joint Collector Ramsankar Naik, K.C. Kalkura, Seshachalam, P. Chandrasekhar, Anjaiah, Sudharamana and Ramakrishna Reddy were present.
