Power shutdown

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of Kilpauk area on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Scholarships for students

University of Wollogong, Australia, has announced scholarships worth Rs. 30 lakh for Indian students for the 2007 academic year as part of Wollogong International Coursework Scholarships Scheme. Scholarships are available for the following courses among others: MBA (advanced), Master of Engineering Practice, Masters' coursework in Computer Science, Master of Information and Communication Technology, Master of Public Health and M.Sc. Prize distribution function

The Mylapore Academy will celebrate the 53rd annual prize distribution function on Friday at 6 p.m. at P.S. Higher Secondary School in Mylapore. C.R. Ravichandiran, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, will preside.

Trophies and prizes will be distributed to winners of oratorical contest. Eleven educational institutions that have completed over 100 years in the cause of education will be honoured.

The awardees include: Presidency College, Pachaiyappa's College and Madras Christian College and the following higher secondary schools: Lady Sivaswamy Iyer Girls, Muthialpet, Madras Progressive Union, St. Bede's Anglo Indian, St. George, St. Mathias Anglo Indian, St. Paul's and St. Thomas.

Institute gets

B+ grade

Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute has been awarded a B+ grade with 78.55 per cent by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

The University was inspected in the last week of January.

NAAC is an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission and conducts inspection of universities in the State.
