Cases booked under Sections 341, 384, 506

VIJAYAWADA: The Suryaraopet police on Thursday arrested Kankipadu MLA Devineni Rajasekhar's brother Devineni Baji Prasad on the charge of assaulting a photographer of a vernacular daily on the City Civil Courts premises.

Cases were booked under Sections 341 (wrongful restrain), 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.

The problem began when T. Mohan of the daily tried to take photographs of Baji Prasad, when the latter was going to the Metropolitan Sessions Judge court to attend the trial of a kidnap case.

Baji Prasad allegedly abused the photographer and snatched his camera.

Memorandum

Journalists and photographers from the city met the Police Commissioner C.V. Anand and submitted a memorandum demanding action against Baji Prasad. Besides this, Mr. Mohan lodged a complaint with the Suryaraopet police charging Baji Prasad with assaulting him.

The police arrested Baji Prasad and registered cases against him.
