Rymbai decides to quit

K.V. Prasad

NEW DELHI: Meghalaya Chief Minister J.D. Rymbai on Tuesday announced he would put in his papers after returning to Shillong on Thursday.

Mr. Rymbai, who was resisting from accepting the decision that was conveyed to him earlier by Union Minister Oscar Fernandes, changed his mind after a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

"The decision of the high command will be followed. I shall resign after returning the day after," Mr. Rymbai told The Hindu after his meeting with Ms. Gandhi here on Monday evening.
