Corporates pitch in for a cause

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Cricket buffs from corporate organisations went to work in the city on Saturday. They played their favourite game and contributed to a social cause by participating in `Cricket for Concern', a fundraiser hosted by Concern India Foundation.

Eight teams, including Cookieman and C.H.Robinson Worldwide, participated in the two-day event organised at Good Shepherd School, Nungambakkam.

Teams of eight played league matches on Saturday. Four teams — Shriram Builders, Siemens, Nokia and Odyssey — qualified for Sunday's semi-finals. The two teams that will qualify for the finals will compete to win holiday packages and dinner at a star hotel.

The annual event is being organised since three years. The team from C.H.Robinson Worldwide bagged the first prize last year. The proceeds will go towards various projects of the organisation, including Dean Foundation run for elderly, V-Excel Educational Trust and Kalaiselvi Karunalaya, run for the upliftment of gypsies.
