St.John's International announces new initiatives

To launch a Sports Academy, international curriculum


  • A State-level sports talent hunt will be hosted in April
  • Upgraded St.John's Cambridge school to start next year

    CHENNAI: It was a proud evening for the students and teachers of St.John's International Residential School, Palanjur, as Friday marked the end of the academic achievements and the beginning of more.

    The prizes were for the academic, sports and extra curricular activities at the SJIRS' 14th annual day.

    R. Kishore Kumar, Senior Principal, announced that the St.John's Sports Academy would be launched soon.

    A State-level sports talent hunt would be hosted in April as a curtain raiser for the Academy's launch. The SJIRS would introduce the International Cambridge Curriculum in collaboration with the University of Cambridge, U.K. and open parallel classes for classes upto Standard X from June.

    New facilities

    This wing would have both residential and day boarding facilities. The upgraded St.John's Cambridge school would start functioning next year. He highlighted various scholarships with fee waiver for toppers in various fields, including sports and extracurricular activities.

    "Communication skills necessary"

    Ajit Singh, Consul General, Consulate General of Singapore in Chennai, said the thinking skills of the students must be developed to help them adapt to the competitive world.

    Besides building creative thinking, communication skills was another quality that must be strengthened in children.

    Mr.Singh later interacted with students and distributed prizes.
