CHENNAI : A 27-year-old visually challenged chartered accountant B. Jairam was presented with the Rotary's vocational excellence award here on Wednesday. The Rotary Club of Meenambakkam presented the award to Mr Jairam at a function to recognise achievers in their chosen vocations. Apart from his professional excellence, Mr. Jairam had carved out for himself a name in Carnatic music. Having trained under his paternal grandmother Parvatham Ganesan, and then Mallika Padmanabhan, he is currently training under vocalist P S Narayanaswamy. Despite his visual impairment, Mr Jairam had excelled in everything that he did, the award citation noted. When many may have resigned themselves to their fate, the young professional had met every challenge in life. In his acceptance speech, Mr Jairam said he changed his mind frame from focussing on the problem to focussing on the solution to get where he was now. Rotary District Governor (Dist 3230) Elect A S Venkatesh presented the award to Mr Jairam in the presence of Director (vocational service) Narayanan. Among those who participated were the Rotary Club of Meenambakkam president A V Srinivasan and the Club secretary S Shivkumar.
