Double for Praveen

IDUKKI: Ernakulam's Praveen Wilson won a double in the all-Kerala veterans' tennis tournament, organised by the Idukki District Tennis Association, at the Mundakayam Club courts here.

The results (finals):

45-55 years (best-of-15 games): Singles: Praveen Wilson (Ekm) bt V.K. Joseph (Ekm) 8-3; Doubles: Praveen & Joseph bt M.R. Ramesh & S. Rajeev (Tvm) 8-5.

55-65: Singles: B.K. Iyer (Ekm) bt Jacob C. Kallivaylil (Ktm) 8-6; Doubles: Jacob & T.C. Mathew (Ktm) bt B.K. Iyer & Rajan Mathew (Ekm) 8-5.

65 and above (best-of-13): Singles: Tommy Marattukulam (Idk) bt K.M. John (Pta) 7-2; Doubles: K.M. John & George John (Pta) bt Sebastian & Alexander (Ekm) 7-4.

Golden Eagles posts win

Golden Eagles surprised Directorate of Health Services 2-1 to record its first win in the Thiruvananthapuram district `B' division football league here on Friday.

Kumar Unni (12th) and Thomas Jeffry (14th) scored the goals for the winner while Noufal reduced the margin for DHS in the 64th minute.

Venad Heroes defeated St. Thomas FC by a solitary goal to record its first win in the league. Rathish scored the match-winner in the 24th minute.
