Superb spell by Satish

BANGALORE: Satish's seven for 28 helped HASC score a six-wicket win over Elite Blues CC in a Y.S. Ramaswamy memorial Trophy tournament match here on Friday. Elite Blues CC scored 90 in 18.4 overs and HASC surpassed the target in 19 overs.

The scores: Elite Blues 90 in 18.4 overs (Satish seven for 28) lost to HASC 94 for four in 19 overs.

Bangalore UCC 248 in 48.3 overs (Shoaib 50) lost to Jolly Cricketers 249 for seven in 36.4 overs (Bipin 77, Alok 60).

Silky Town 227 in 49.1 overs bt Visweswarapuram CC 104 in 28.4 overs.

MEG beats Postal

Madras Engineering Group (MEG) defeated Postal 1-0 in a Super Division league match here on Friday, with Girish heading the winner in the 48th minute.

In the initial minutes, Postal's Chethan and Srinivasa fired in a few warning volleys but after that MEG dominated but failed to convert it into goals. Locked goalless at half-time, MEG came out hustling in the second-half, found a corner kick and in the resultant goalmouth melee, Lokeshwar Singh sent in a floater to an unmarked Girish, who promptly headed in the match's lone goal.

Earlier in an A-division match, Dharmaraja Union defeated AGORC 3-2. Manimaran, Ramesh Kannan and Rajendra scored for the winner while Sashidharan and Rajesh scored for AGORC.

Netball squad for Nationals

The senior National netball championship will be held at Ongole from Saturday. The following will represent Karnataka in the event.

Men: V. Ashok Kumar (captain), V. Vishwnath, B. Basavaraj Patil, K.N. Balaji , N. Madhu, Javed Ahmed, H. Anand Murthy, G. Narendra, Naveen Kumar, L. Ravi, K. Kirankumar and N. Kiran Kumar.

VFI trials for Youth team

The Volleyball Federation of India will conduct selection trials to pick up the Indian Youth girls team at Vishakapatnam on March 1.

Players born on or after 1990 are eligible to participate in the trials.

Awards function

The Karnataka Bodybuilding Association will hold an awards ceremony for `Mr. Karnataka 2007' on Saturday at Mini Vidhana Soudha, Neelamangala Town.

The Hosur Chess Academy will conduct its monthly tournament for children at the Ayyappa Temple Hall, Jayanagar,VII Block here on March 4.
