KAMPALA: Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels have said they would not endorse an extension of the truce with the Government that will expire next Wednesday, further dashing the hope of reviving the stalled peace talks. Vincent Otti, the LRA's deputy commander, was quoted by Daily Monitor on Friday as saying that they have not seen any tangible benefits since they signed the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement six months ago and renewed it in December. The landmark truce required the rebels to assemble at two designated areas in southern Sudan, but the rebels announced on Thursday that they had left the assembly points for security concerns. Xinhua
