I enjoy majority: Mulayam

Atiq Khan

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Wednesday said his Government enjoyed majority in the Assembly despite the Supreme Court order.

Mr. Yadav said he was ready to prove his majority on the floor of the House again when it resumed its sitting on February 26. He had done so on January 25, he pointed out.

Welcoming the court order disqualifying 13 MLAs, Mr.Yadav told reporters that his Government would gain in strength after the verdict. The Samajwadi Party always respected judicial verdicts.

Mr. Yadav also rejected the Opposition demand that he quit on moral grounds in the wake of court order.

The BJP and the BSP formed the previous Government on immoral grounds as both campaigned against each other in 2002, he added.
