TIRUCHI: Members of the Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a demonstration in front of the Taluk office here on Tuesday demanding that new ration cards be issued to those who were yet to receive it. Led by district secretary N. Selvaraj and urban assistant secretary Dravida Mani, the cadres wanted the authorities to take steps to eliminate the role of "brokers" operating at the taluk office. They wanted steps to be initiated to check bogus family cards in circulation. They also wanted kerosene to be allotted to all new cards.
