TIRUCHI: The Territorial Army will recruit candidates here on February 22. Employment will be on part time basis — for two months in a year or on embodiment during emergency situation. Only persons who are already employed will be recruited. Employees of Central and State governments and public sector undertakings — except the Police, Armed Police and Railways — will have to produce no objection certificates from their respective heads of departments.

Candidates in the age group of 18 to 42 with a minimum height of 165 centimetres and minimum weight of 50 kilograms are eligible. The chest measurement should be 76 cm, with an expansion of 5 cm.

For General duty, candidates should have passed SSLC with 45 per cent aggregate marks. However, for candidates with higher academic qualifications (Plus 2 and above), the minimum marks would not be applicable.

For tradesmen category (carpenter and equipment repairer), the minimum eligibility will be a pass in standard VIII. Candidates with experience in the trades would be given preference. Candidates from Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry are eligible to apply for the enrolment. The basic pay for general duty will be Rs.3,250 a month, apart from dearness allowance (DA). For tradesmen, the basic pay will be Rs.3,050 a month, besides the DA.

Candidates should appear at 6 a.m. on February 22 with originals of nativity, community and transfer certificates, mark sheets and three recent passport-size photographs. Candidates should also produce originals of sports or games certificates (district or State level), if applicable, a press release said.
