MUMBAI: Paying glowing tributes to industry doyen B. K. Birla and his wife Saraladevi, Maharashtra Governor S. M. Krishna on Monday released an anecdotal biography, `One Day At A Time,' celebrating the legacy of the Birla family and its contribution to the nation. The release coincides with the celebrations of B. K. Birla's 86th birthday and the acquisition by the Aditya Birla group of an American aluminium company, Novelis.

Felicitating the two, Mr. Krishna said, "it is not the white lines on an economic chart that matters... but the legacy that the couple will leave behind that will impact the nation.''

Describing the book as a "spiritual journey into all faiths and intertwining of religions through the lives and journey of the Birla family,'' Mr. Krishna said. "it bridges a gap in the corporate world and opens a window onto a more meaningful path of human progress.'' "Its biggest takeaway is its road to spirituality,'' he said, and urged the gathering to follow B. K. Birla's example and make the book their "morning reading.'' The occasion was marked by a sanctifying thread of music, hymns and conch shells and the unifying thread of family bondage.
