TIRUCHI: Almost a fortnight after conducting the International Conference on Biotechnological Approaches in Bioresource Management at Bharathidasan University, encomiums continue to be showered on the organising secretary S. Sivaramakrishnan, a lecturer in the Department of Biotechnology.

What caused amazement to Vice-Chancellor C. Thangamuthu was Dr. Sivaramakrishnan's ability to organise an event with an appreciable magnitude on such a vital topic within two years of joining the university department as a faculty member. The Head of the Department, M. Vivekanandan, does not lose any opportunity to congratulate Dr. Sivaramakrishnan in academic forums.

It turned out to be an international event in the true sense of the term, what with delegates from Japan, South America, Iran, Bangladesh and Malaysia participating actively and presenting papers.

The conference was even considered a touchstone for future international academic events in the university.
