A great loss

It was with great sorrow that I noted the passing away of S. Rangarajan, Chairman of Kasturi and Sons Limited, proprietors of The Hindu group of publications. One of the films produced by him, Ore Oru Gramathile, with its great message and elegant music will remain in our thoughts forever.

Our deep sympathies to his family and all at The Hindu.

Mr. Rangarajan's death has created a vacuum in the Indian newspaper industry. His contribution towards the coverage of sport in The Hindu, and to the Tamil film industry can never be forgotten.

I was shocked on hearing about the sudden demise of Mr. Rangarajan. An ardent sports lover, his contribution to The Hindu has been enormous.

No one can fill the void created by Rangappa's passing.
