Madurai: Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti drubbed Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering, Krishankovil 8-1 to enter the semifinals of the 14th Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar memorial Trophy State-level inter-engineering college hockey tournament, organised by Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) as part of the golden jubilee celebrations of the college, here on Monday. SIT triumphs
Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti lifted the ACCET Trophy with an all win record in the semifinal round robin league of the State-level inter-engineering college invitation volleyball tournament, organised by Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering, at Karaikudi on Monday. Erode Sengunthar Engineering College finished runner-up, losing only to SIT, while Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai finished third with its only win over PSNA Engineering College, Dindigul. Dr. R. Sundararajan, Principal gave away the prizes. The results (League): SIT, Kariapatti bt Erode Sengunthar Engg. College 25-11, 25-19; TCE, Madurai bt PSNA, Dindigul 18-25, 26-24, 26-24; SIT, Kariapatti bt PSNA 25-15, 25-14; Erode Sengunthar bt TCE 25-17, 25-20; SIT bt TCE 25-11, 25-16; Erode Sengunthar bt PSNA 25-18, 21-25, 25-23.
MKU College posts win
Madurai Kamaraj University College, Andipatti beat Nila CC, Aranmanaipudur by 60 runs in the Theni District Cricket Association first division league at TKSTTI ground, Theni on Sunday. The scores: MKU, Andipatti 206 in 30 overs (Hari 42, Sakthi 46, Siva 45) bt Nila CC 146 in 25 overs (Selvam 46).
