Rupee edges up

MUMBAI: The rupee ended almost steady at 44.1050/1100 a dollar on Monday after an attempted rally, which was checked by fears of Reserve Bank of India's intervention as well as rising crude oil prices. Initially, the rupee surged to a high of 44.08 on exporters dollar sales, buoyed partly by a fresh rally in the equity markets. The activity was not much and the rupee was trapped in a small range of 44.08-44.14 even as the currency drew support from expectations of sustained foreign institutional investors' inflows into equity markets. — PTI
