TIMELY STRIKE: Thierry Henry's strike helped Arsenal earn a draw against Middlesbrough.

MIDDLESBROUGH: Thierry Henry scored a late goal to earn Arsenal a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough in the English Premier League football after it had been reduced to 10 men by the dismissal of Philippe Senderos.

The defender was sent off in the 63rd minute for a foul inside the area on Yakubu, who went on to score his 13th goal of the season from the spot to put Middlesbrough in control.

Gareth Southgate's improving team appeared equipped to hold on to their advantage until a length-of-the field move ended with Henry maintaining his excellent record against Middlesbrough as he scored with an angled shot into the far corner.

It certainly made interesting viewing for Lee Dong Gook, the South Korea international who has joined Middlesbrough, but was not involved because Southgate believes he still lacks match fitness.

More worrying for Southgate was the continued absence of his Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer because of a back injury.

The results: English Premier League: Aston Villa 1 (Carew 36) bt West Ham 0; Blackburn 2 (Gamst Pedersen 22, 90) bt Sheffield United 1 (Stead 25); Charlton 0 lost to Chelsea 1 (Lampard 18); Fulham 2 (Helguson 49, McBride 73) bt Newcastle 1 (Martins 90+3); Liverpool 0 drew with Everton 0; Manchester City 0 lost to Reading 2 (Lita 79, 89); Middlesbrough 1 (Ayegbeni 63-pen) drew with Arsenal 1 (Henry 77); Wigan Athletic 1 (McCulloch 68) bt Portsmouth 0; Watford 0 lost to Bolton 1 (Anelka 63). — Agencies
