Capital to host international book festival

Thiruvananthapuram: More than 150 publishers from India and abroad are expected to participate in the Ananthapuri International Book Festival being organised at the SMV High School grounds here from March 30 to April 8.

A 101-member reception committee including prominent writers, academics, publishers, intellectuals and people's representatives has been constituted. Former Chief Secretary D. Babu Paul is the chairman of the festival committee while educationist N.A. Karim heads the reception committee.

Culture Minister M.A. Baby, Sports Minister M. Vijayakumar, Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy and writers O.N.V. Kurup and Sugathakumari are among the patrons.

The festival will feature academic and literary sessions, seminars, symposia, cultural shows and competitions in art and literature, general convenor K.V. Rajendran said.
