KATHMANDU: Nepal's major political parties, including ruling coalition members have said Prime Minister G.P. Koirala's concession offered to the agitating Madhesi people was inadequate and have urged him to agree on proportional election system for the Constituent Assembly (CA) polls. Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) Pracahnda said, "It will only increase confusion, so we urge the Prime Minister to agree on federal system of governance with full right to self determination and proportional election system for the upcoming CA polls." He said if the demands were not fulfilled and an interim government was not formed soon his party would launch a peaceful movement. Similarly, two coalition members — UML and Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Aanandadevi) — have also demanded proportional election system. The agitating Madhesi Peoples' Right Forum (MPRF) also rejected the Prime Minister's offer but said it had taken positively his offer for talks. Three more protesters died on Thursday as protests erupted in the eastern terai districts rejecting the Premier's offer.Protests intensified in the region soon after Mr. Koirala's Wednesday address. Protesters raided a police post in Biratangar on Wednesday evening, captured assistant inspector of police Naresh Jung Karki and killed him. A protestor also died in the clash.
