VIJAYAWADA: Assam's Bishnu Ravi Nath (118/ 120) and Manipur's H. Rajprivari Devi (102/ 120) emerged champions in the Indian Olympic round in the men's and women's sections respectively at the 27th Cherukuri Volga memorial senior National archery championship here on Sunday. In a nail-biting finish, Bishnu took the coveted place in the tiebreaker with a margin of one point over T.H. Sanatamba Singh of Manipur. Locked at 108 points, Bishnu garnered ten points in the tiebreak. In the FITA qualifying round in men's recurve segment, Services Sports Control Board's Guru Charan Besra (1315), Steel Plant Sports Board's Rahul Banerjee (1314) and SSCB's Robin Hansda (1307) took the first three places.
Dola in top slot
In the women's recurve segment Railways's Dola Banerjee occupied the top slot with 1307 points, followed by Nagaland's Chekrovolyu Swuro (1301) and Bombayla Devi (1288) of Railways. In the men's compound qualifying round, Paltan Hansoa (Jharkhand) registered 1347 points. Mehalaya's Sonam Bhutia (1339) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police's Avesh Raghav (1338) finished second and third respectively. In the women's compound event, Jharkhand's Jhano Hansda, Indian Railways' Sakro Besra (1352) and Haryana Renu Munda (1332) won the top three slots. The results: Finals: Men: Indian Olympic Round: 1.
