CHENNAI:
The State Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department (CB CID) probing the kidney racket has sought records from a private hospital in Madurai.
A woman had complained that she underwent the surgery there.
Besides Raju, two other brokers are being questioned in connection with the alleged racket. "We are making good progress," a senior CB CID officer said.
A breakthrough was expected in the next two days.
Enquiries with other brokers were being made as Mallika of Tondiarpet here had stated in her complaint that she was taken from Chennai to Madurai by two brokers, including one from Tiruchirappalli. Apart from brokers, the role played by other persons, if any, would also be investigated.
The hospital records had to be verified to check the versions of the complainants and the brokers, the officer said.
