Actor Rami Reddy held for drunken driving

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Film actor Rami Reddy, who played villain roles in several Telugu and Hindi films, was detained by the traffic police at Rythu Bazar in Mehdipatnam on Saturday night on the charge of drunken driving.

He was released on bail on Sunday. As part of a special drive against drunken drivers, the traffic police were checking motorists with breath analysers. Around 11.45 p.m., the police stopped a car in which Rami Reddy was found driving the vehicle in an intoxicated condition along with his friend.

After registering cases under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act, the police shifted him to a hospital for medical examination. The actor was returning to his home at Srinagar Colony after attending a function on the city outskirts, Humayunnagar Inspector R. Pratap Reddy said.

Rami Reddy became popular for his role in `Ankusam' starring Rajasekhar and Jeevita.
