Madurai: Madurai City Police and Sellur Melathope (S.M) Kabaddi Club `A' entered the men's final in the Madurai district kabaddi championship here on Sunday.

The results: Men: Semifinals: Madurai City Police bt S.K. Club, Sellur 29-13; S.M. Club `A' bt Sixth Battalion (Special Police) 33-8. Quarterfinals: Madurai City Police bt Seven Brothers Club, Kovillanikulam 42-18; S.K. Club, Sellur bt S.M. Club `B' 42-26; Sixth Battalion (Special Police) bt Manikandan memorial Club 28-26; S.M. Club `A' bt Thevar Ani, Chengalpatti 48-19.

Women: Semifinals: Sri Meenakshi Govt. College bt Srinivasa Ceramics Club 30-17; Amman Sports Club bt Caption Groups Club 32-9.

Easy for Vignesh SC

Vignesh Sports Club chalked out a comfortable five-wicket victory over RVS Sports Club in the Dindigul DCA first division league at Dindigul on Sunday.

The scores: First division: RVS Sports Club 140 in 34.4 overs lost to Vignesh SC 144 for five in 23.1 overs (M. Abdul Rahim 42).

Second division: Kodai CC 132 for three in 22 overs (P. Sivabalan 44 not out) bt Vaigai CC 105 in 20.1 overs (S. Rajasekar four for 22).

Third division: Azar CC 103 in 18.2 overs (A. Palanisamy five for 20, S. Gokula Krishnan four for 22) lost to Eleven Stars CC 104 for seven in 18.1 overs.

Big win for Spark CC

An unbeaten 58 by Kumar helped Crescent CC defeat Spark CC by eight wickets in the Alagiri Birthday district-level cricket tournament at Madurai on Sunday.

The scores: Spark CC 134 for eight in 20 overs (Krishna Kumar 55) lost to Crescent CC 135 for two in 20 overs (Kumar 58 not out); High Court CC 94 for eight in 18 overs bt PTR Engineering College 82 for eight in 18 overs; Aparajitha CC 140 for five in 18 overs bt Thirunagar CC 113 for six in 18 overs; Madura College HSS 114 for four in 18 overs bt ABT Guys CC 105 in 18 overs; Green CC 109 in 18 overs lost to IOB RC 110 for three in 16 overs (Charles 46 not out); Oliva CC 82 in 16.5 overs lost to Mercury CC 84 for six in 12.4 overs.

Semifinalists spotted

Jeyasekar Kabaddi Club, Muppilivelti, Winning Star Club, Veeranayakan Thattu, Pearl City Club, Tuticorin and VOC Club `A', Seval entered the semifinals of the SPIC Trophy district-level kabaddi tournament at the Gymkhana ground, Tuticorin, on Saturday night.

The results: Quarterfinals: Jeyasekar Club bt VPC Club 40-19; Winning Star bt KMC 40-19; Pearl City Club bt BBC 35-20; VOC `A' bt Nesammal Club 36-14.

A hat-trick by Manoj Kumar helped Solar Football Club defeat Murugan Memorial Club 3-0 in the Dindigul District Nursery football league at NMMH SS Ground on Sunday.
