Narain scores for A1 Team

Coimbatore: Narain Karthikeyan notched up A1 Team India's first ever points in the A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport at the Taupo Park in New Zealand on Sunday.

The track was tight and twisty, with just limited space for overtaking, but Narain brought the Indian flag liveried car home in seventh place in the Feature race. In the Feature race, Germany, France and New Zealand finished in that order.

Narain, who started 10th on the grid, collected four points for his effort.

Narain had earlier achieved India's best ever qualifying position in both the Sprint and Feature races, and also timed the second fastest lap of the day.

The Williams F1 Test driver was pleased with his efforts. "We leave with the first points for A1 Team India. That was what I wanted, and we couldn't really have expected anything more with such little track time and data from the car."

In the Sprint race also, Germany, France and New Zealand finished in that order.
