Clarification
With reference to a report, `Hamsadhwani to conduct performances abroad' published on Page 7 on January 14, R. Ramachandran, the sabha secretary writes: The headline, as well as the statement in the report that Hamsadhwani will facilitate performances by artists in international venues from the next year are misleading. What was actually said was that Hamsadhwani, which organises an NRI music festival every year, would give the artists an opportunity to showcase their talent here in India in more than one city, as Indian artists did abroad.
This would give the NRI artists a wider audience and more encouragement. The plan was to put this expanded tour into effect starting December 2007.
This clarification is necessary as based on The Hindu report, a number of musicians are requesting us to arrange concerts abroad. — Readers' Editor.
