Official, family escape as car catches fire

New Delhi: A bureaucrat in the Ministry of External Affairs and his family had a miraculous escape as their car caught fire here on Saturday night.

Indermani Pandey, Director in the Ministry of External Affairs, his wife and child were travelling in their Maruti 800 car when it caught fire as they turned from India Gate towards Pragati Maidan around 9:15 pm.

Mr. Pandey and his kin upon spotting the fire immediately got out of the car and within a few minutes, the vehicle was engulfed in flames, a Fire Brigade official said. - PTI
