Samajotsava was nothing short of a hate campaign: Subbaiah

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Sangh Parivar's motivation for holding Virat Hindu Samajotsava in various parts of the State was to "turn Karnataka into another Gujarat", alleged veteran politician A.K. Subbaiah.

Speaking to presspersons here, he said it was nothing short of a "hate campaign" against minorities and it was going unpunished because the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is part of the coalition Government. He wanted to know why leaders such as Pravin Togadia and Pramod Mutalik were not arrested, though, according to him, they had made "inflammatory" speeches everywhere.

Mr. Subbiah alleged that the BJP MLA from Virajpet Basavaraj had been beaten up by the organisers of the samajotsava for "not cooperating with them". Pointing out that the MLA was a Dalit, he asked what the Sangh Parivar's definition of a "Hindu" was.

The Sangh Parivar would do well to launch campaigns about evils such as untouchability, Mr. Subbaiah said.
