Visakhapatnam: Railway passengers of Kakinada and Pithapuram have appealed to Union Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju to take immediate steps for the acquisition of land for the laying of the Kakinada - Pithapuram railway line.
Announcement hailed
Welcoming the recent announcement made by the Minister that the Planning Commission had cleared the project in principle and forwarded it to the Railway Board for its formal approval, the founder of Passengers Association of Kakinada, S.S. Krishnaji said in a press release that the association had filed a writ in the High Court against the acquisition of land for the SEZ and secured a favourable reply from the East Godavari Collector, who had issued a notification in the newspapers for allotment of land between Kakinada and Thondangi mandalam to the Special Economic Zone. He expressed apprehensions that the Railway Board wouldn't clear the project unless the Minister pursued the matter. He appealed to the Union Minister to take steps for acquisition of land for the railway line project at the earliest.
