VISAKHAPATNAM: The Tiruveedhi utsavam as part of the Tyagaraja Aradhanotsavam being organised by the Tyagaraja Aradhana Trust was performed here on Monday morning. Singers carrying idols of Tyagaraja and Lord Rama went round the streets adjacent to the Kala Bharathi auditorium in Pithapuram colony singing Tyagraja kritis. Residents offered obeisance to Lord Rama and several joined the procession of singers midway. The procession of singers reached Kalabharathi, venue of the Aradhanotsavam where noted musician Nedunuri Krishnamurthy, along with IVL Sastry and Arundhati Sarkar led the Pancha Ratna Seva, after Ms. Gopika Prasad, wife of special advisor to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams PVRK Prasad, formally inaugurated the seva by lighting a lamp. Several young musicians were among the participants in the Pancha Ratna Seva. The Pancha Ratna Seva was followed by Brundaganam of Tyagaraja's Ghana Raga Panchan Keertanalu. As many as 150 musicians participated in the group singing event. Later several local and outstation musicians rendered Tyagarja kritis. They participated as individuals or in groups. This rendition of Tyagaraja kritis, being held every day, continued till late in the evening. TVK Sastry of Madras Telugu Academy donated a sum of Rs. 10,000 to the Tyagaraja Aradhana Trust.
