CBI sends reregistered FIR to city court
K.T. Sangameswaran
CHENNAI:
The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sent to a city court a reregistered FIR in the case relating to the leakage of question papers for the selection of police constables in Tamil Nadu in 2005. Investigation would start after the receipt of some more documents pertaining to the case, a CBI official said.
Eighty-seven persons, including an Inspector-General of Police, Tamil Nadu, have been named as accused in the FIR.
The prosecution case is that there was a leakage of question papers when the examination for the selection of 1997 Grade II police constables was conducted first in March and also during the second time in June last year. Initially, the Chintadripet police registered a case, which was later transferred to the Special Investigation Team of CB CID.
The CBI had taken over the investigation on the orders of the Madras High Court on a petition filed by one of the candidates of Vellore district.
