CHENNAI: Over 70 students from Thanjavur and Vellore districts are attending a motivation programme, jointly organised by the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology and the National Council for Science and Technology Communication, this next week. Inaugurated here on Sunday, the programme is aimed at giving deserving students an opportunity to interact with senior academicians. P.Nagabooshanam, former Vice-Chancellor of the Dr.Ambedkar Law University, said students today had several opportunities. "There are powerful media such as television and computer. It is up to you to use them productively," she told students. She urged the Class XI studentsto choose their subjects in College after good amount of thinking. "Do not choose a subject just because your friend has opted for it. Identify what you are best at and pursue that sincerely," she said. Students chosen for the programme were selected after headmasters of schools in these districts conducted an initial round of screening and a list of short-listed candidates was sent to the respective Chief Educational Officers (CEOs). They in turn chose the final 70 candidates, a spokesperson of the Council said.
