Focus on Prakash

NEW DELHI: With Rohan Bopanna leaving for the Hopman Cup in Australia, the focus will be on Prakash Amritraj in the State Bank of Saurashtra $15,0000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament starting at the DLTA Complex here on Christmas.

The 23-year-old Prakash has not played a tournament for nearly five months after having pulled out of the qualifying event at the Washington ATP Tour event with a wrist injury in July.

Prakash starts against wild card Ashutosh Singh on Tuesday. The talented lads from Chandigarh, Sanam Singh and Sunil Kumar have their matches on Monday and will be meeting Vijay Kannan and Divij Sharan respectively. The top-seeded Alexey Kedriouk of Kazakhstan, a temperamental character, will be up against Aditya Madkekar.

The champion of last week Qureshi starts against Pathanjali Ravishankar, while National grasscourt champion Vishaal Uppal will have a tough opener against Todor Enev of Bulgaria.
