Nod for project to bring Yamuna water to Bharatpur
Special Correspondent
JAIPUR:
The Central Water Commission has sanctioned in principle a project worth Rs. 175 crore for bringing Rajasthan's share of the Yamuna water to Bharatpur district. The Haryana Government is yet to give its consent to the project expected to add 65,209 hectares to the irrigated area in the district.
There is a proposal to construct a channel parallel to the 52-km-long Gurgaon Canal from the Okhla barrage to the border of Rajasthan as part of the project to take the water to Rupwas tehsil.
The existing canal system of Bharatpur feeder is also expected to be strengthened under the project.
