Police take them in custody for allegedly watching porn film on campus

TIRUPATI: Tension gripped the Sri Venkateswara University campus here in the wake of the police taking into custody some students for allegedly viewing a porn film in a room in one of the hostel blocks late Sunday night. What triggered the tension on Monday was the permission reportedly granted to the police by the University authorities to arrest the concerned students and register cases as per law. Sources said that based on the information provided by the students, the police raided a video shop here and seized some objectionable CDs. Taking strong objection to the police entering the campus late night without a `valid permission', the irate students held angry demonstrations on the campus. They were also said to have mobbed Vice-Chancellor S. Jayarama Reddy on the campus, who was later escorted to his residence with police protection.
