BSNL deploys WiMax network

BANGALORE: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has started deployment of WiMax equipment, Aperto Networks' PacketMax 5000 base stations and subscriber units, in Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune and four rural areas across Haryana. The deployment comes in the wake of Aperto's successful bid in response to a BSNL tender issued in late 2004. The process is planned for completion next month.
