D. Ravi Shankar

Maleka (Malaysia): At the turn of the first nine holes, Noida Golf Club was in danger of losing its hold on the McDowell's Signature All India inter-club title. Winners from the Southern region, Eagleton Golf Club had gained a three-stroke lead and was looking like staging an upset victory.

However Noida Golf Club's team comprising of Simarjeet Singh,Vijay Kumar, Brig. A. Dubey, Raghuvar Singh, Sonel Verma and Rajesh Jairath fought back splendidly to turn the tables and went on to garner a16-point victory over the Southern challengers.

Simarjeet Singh went on to log the best card of the day scoring 36 stableford points equivalent to a par for the A'Famosa Golf Resort course in Maleka. Vijaya Kumar played to 33 points (three over), Brig. Dubey and Raghuvar Singh 30 each to give Noida Golf Club a total of 131 points.

Eagleton Golf Resort finished with 115 points. Its six-member team comprised Abhishek Jha, Karthik Murthy, Anjani Mandal, Chetan Meda, Vijaya Kumar and Nagraj Meda. Anirbhan Lahiri, who had played a stellar role in taking Eagleton to the finals, was sorely missed.

He was away at Doha in the Indian Amateur Golf squad for the Asian Games. Royal Calcutta Golf Club finished third with 111 points and United Services Club placed fourth with 91points.

The winning team received Tag Heuer watches and a golf cart for the club. The runner-up received Rescue Woods from TaylorMade.
