Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI: Charging that the Sri Lankan Government was not keen on a civilised political solution to solve the ethnic crisis, Dalit Panthers of India supremo Thol. Tirumavalavan on Tuesday alleged that the government of the island nation was trying to destroy Tamils.

The Sri Lankan Government was enacting a drama by talking peace on the one hand, while carrying out a genocide of Tamils on the other, he said told reporters here. At a time when Tamils were being attacked in Sri Lanka, according a ceremonial welcome to President Mahinda Rajapaksa amounted to insulting the Tamil people.

He said the Centre should have deputed a Cabinet Minister to discuss the Sri Lankan issue with Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
