For the next four days, a veritable feast is in store for ardent lovers of traditional art forms as `Koothu' festival will be organised at the American College campus. Starting from November 27 to 30, artists from all over the State will enthral audience with their exploits in different fields. On the first day, `Thamizhisai', `Paraiyattam' and `Sri Valli Thirumanam' will be staged. The following day `Thevarattam', `Villupattu' and `Therukoothu' will be performed. On the third day, `Karagam', `Thol Pavai' and `Kaniyan Koothu' will regale the audience. On the last day, `Ramayana Oyilattam', `Aravaan Kalabali' and `Iraniyan Nadagam' will be staged. The entry is free. All art forms will be performed between 6.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. It will be a rewarding experience for the theatre buffs.
Moving past the traditional events that mark the National Cadet Corps day on November 26 every year, cadets and officers of the Madurai NCC Group shared the celebrations with the inhabitants of Rajaji Old Age Home in Madurai on Saturday. Besides serving breakfast to the senior citizens, cadets of Thiagarajar College put up a cultural show to entertain them. The cadets also served lunch to the boys of Government School for the Blind at K.K. Nagar. They organised a game for the children. Group Commander, U.T. Babu, and other officers distributed prizes.
