SALEM: The Tamil Development department will conduct the district-level essay, poem writing and elocution competitions for higher secondary students in Corporation Boys Higher Secondary School, Fort, at 10 a.m. on November 25.

According to a release, the department will award Rs. 1000 as first prize and Rs. 500 as second prize. The winners will be sent to participate in the State-level competition. The department will conduct a poem writing competition for the government employees and public. The title for the competition is `Atchiyil Tamil'. It should be submitted to the Director, Tamil Development Directorate, Halls Road, Egmore, Chennai - 8.
