Tiruchi
Vigilance awareness week Recently `vigilance awareness week' was observed. It is a fitting time to report about the chronic `corrupt practices' continuing in Tiruchi Government Hospital. For each and every service rendered money was being demanded from patients by a few workers. Even mortuary ward was not an exception to this evil. Those who observe `vigilance awareness week' should strive to stop these kinds of practices going on in many places. S. Raghavan, Tiruchi. Dry ATM As was reported earlier in this column of the ATM of ICICI bank going dry, I too had a similar experience with Indian Bank, Sundar Nagar Branch, Tiruchi on November 9. Such a poor service not only causes distress, but also to distrust with the banks concerned. A.E.R. Samuel, Tiruchi. Open another counter While appreciating the excellent service rendered by the railway booking officials at Srirangam station, the residents of T.V. Koil and Srirangam request the authorities concerned to open one more reservation counter to cope with the demand of the increase in the number of travelling public. The hall available behind the present booking counter can be better utilised for the proposed expansion of counter. Will the authorities consider with this request? R. Gopal, Tiruchi. II The service of the Tiruchi Junction reservation centre is far from the satisfaction. Whenever public contact the phone number 132 to clarify the reservation position, there will be no response. The railway authorities may open a separate counter exclusively for this purpose and appoint somebody to clarify the doubts of the people regarding reservation.
Janakimaindhan S.Raj Tiruchi. Bus service needed In spite of several new localities in the periphery of Tiruchi city limit have since been connected by city bus services, it is unfortunate that the main stretch of the portion from Court to the places beyond T.V.S Tollgate are not linked by any city bus route, via Sethuramanpillai colony. In recent times, many Government offices have come up along the highway leading to Pudukkottai from beyond this important junction. Bharathidasan University and a few educational institutions are functioning for about a decade or more here. So it would be better if a few bus routes are diverted through Sethuramanpillai Colony to the destinations beyond TVS Tollgate as the present route via central bus stand and Mannarpuram is circuitous and have too many signal points en route. Hence, I request the authorities concerned to look into the issue and divert some of the routes. R.Muralikumar, Tiruchi. Re-erect speed-breakers When the Chief Minister visited Tiruchi recently, the entire route through which he passed was appearing spick and span. To ensure smooth flow of the convoy the authorities removed the speed-breakers. It would be better if the speed breakers were re-erected as they were situated near the school zone at Melapudur and at Simco Meters on K.K. Nagar Road. Moreover most of the speed breakers are not as per the specifications as specified in the highways manual and were a threat to passers-by. Will the officials concerned do the needful? H. Ghouse Baig, Tiruchi. Callous parking lot owners Every time I used to park my vehicle at the bay in the parking lot in front of the railway station. Recently I had parked my vehicle at the parking lot there and on my return I was shocked to find that my vehicle was not there. When I asked the owner of the parking lot he told me that due to a VIP visit all vehicles were removed by the police department. Though the owner was aware of the VIP visit he did not inform the public. This shows the callous nature of the parking lot owners. I hope that this should not be repeated in future. G. Rajesh Gopal, Tiruchi. Dirty lane The lane connecting the Super Bazzar (Singarathope) and NSC Bose Road is in an appalling condition. The lane is strewn with full of debris and slush. This lane is frequented by hundreds of shoppers throughout the day and it is difficult for the public to tread through the stretch. Many lanes in the city have been laid with concrete and it is a wonder how this has escaped the notice of the corporation authorities. V. Santhanagopalan, Tiruchi. Colour of town buses It has been a regular practice of the State Transport Corporation to paint town buses in the same colour for easy identification. But, the recently acquired fleet sport different hues making it difficult to distinguish between town and moffussil buses. I request the authorities to maintain uniformity in the colour of town buses at least in future. J. Anantha Padmanabhan, Tiruchi.
