BANGALORE: A man barged into the nurses' quarters of a private nursing home in K.R. Puram police station limits on Friday and attacked a nurse, with a chopper, severing her right hand. The police said Jenny, a businessman, attacked Ramya (19) for refusing to marry him. Ramya has been admitted to Victoria Hospital and she is out of danger. Sabitha (20), Ramya's colleague and roommate, was also injured in the attack. The police said the incident took place around 1.30 p.m. in the nurses' quarters on the first floor of Ashwini Nursing Home, situated off Kowdenahalli on Thambuchetty Palya Main Road. According to the police, Jenny and Ramya, both hailing from Kerala, were in love from the past one year. He had reportedly spent Rs. 3 lakh on her after she promised to marry him. However, Jenny was upset when Ramya reportedly refused to marry him. Around 1.30 p.m. he barged into Ramya's room, pulled out a chopper from his bag and attacked her. Ramya's right hand got severed and fell on the floor. The doctors at the nursing home provided her first-aid and rushed her to hospital, the police said. The K.R. Puram police have registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Jenny. During interrogation, he claimed that he attacked Ramya to "teach her a lesson" for cheating him after making him spend lakhs of rupees on her, the police said.
