Tihar inmate allegedly commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A young man who had been arrested for allegedly killing his uncle, aunt and their five children at Inderlok in North Delhi on July 31 allegedly committed suicide in Tihar Jail on Friday.

The jail authorities informed that Sanjay Babu was found hanging from the ceiling of his cell with a bed-sheet in Jail No. 1 around 3 p.m. They suspect that he ended his life because of remorse over having murdered his relatives.

Sanjay was arrested on charges of killing Om Prakash Rathore (45), his wife Santosh, daughters Manju, Preeti, Dolly and Puja, and son Anuj. The incident had created a scare among the Inderlok residents.

Three arrested for spurious ghee

NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested by the North-West Delhi police for allegedly preparing and supplying spurious "desi ghee". The police claim to have seized 7,550 kg of spurious ghee along with 3,500 kg of "vanaspati", 225 kg of refined oil and other raw material during the operation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West Delhi) Manish Kumar Agarwal said Rajender, a resident of Azadpur, lodged a complaint that the desi ghee he had bought from one Rohtash had turned out to be spurious. Acting on the complaint, the police mounted a raid and recovered a huge consignment of spurious ghee.

Man allegedly commits suicide

NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house at Rohini in North-West Delhi on Friday. While there were reports that he committed suicide after losing his job in the ongoing sealing exercise, the police said there was no evidence to suggest the same.

According to the police, Amit Sharma, a resident of Avantika, Sector-1, Rohini, was found hanging early in the morning. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

One held with fake rail passes

NEW DELHI: One person was caught with two fake first class railway privilege passes by the Anti-Fraud Team of Northern Railway Headquarters during a surprise raid at the IRCA Reservation Complex on November 4.

On further investigation, accused Kuldeep Prakash purportedly disclosed that he had generated the passes through a computer. He was handed over to the Paharganj police and an FIR was registered against him.

Free health check-up camps

NEW DELHI: The Press Council of India will be organising free health check-up camps for its members on November 11, 18 and 25 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Those attending the camp can also get echo and ECG tests, and blood pressure and blood sugar checked. The camps are being held in association with RLKC Hospital and Metro Heart Institute. Meanwhile, PCI's secretary-general Pushpendra Kulshrestha has informed that the club and Metro Heart Institute has also singed an MoU to treat PCI members and their families at the Central Government Health Scheme charges at latter's facilities.
