Separate EE division

CHENNAI: A separate division for executive engineer (TNEB), operation and maintenance, Porur has been formed for the convenience of consumers at Porur, Mangadu, Kovur, Kunrathur, Somangalam, Thirumudivakkam, Iyyapanthangal, Nasrathpet, Poonamallee and Paarivakkam.

Consumers may contact the office at 4/12, Samayapuram Main Road, Karambakkam, Porur for queries. The division will conduct its consumer grievance day on third Monday of every month.

Diabetes camp

Lions Club of Keelkatalai will organise a free diabetes camp on Tuesday at 37/8, Medavakkam Main Road, Madipakkam between 8 a.m. and noon to mark World Diabetes Day. Contact 93810 37046.

Health camp

Around 450 students of Panchayat Union Primary School at Sholinganallur are being screened at a weeklong health camp organised by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sankara Hospital along with Lions Club of Silver Pearls. The programme will conclude on Tuesday.

Children's contests

Lions Club International District 324 A5 along with Shiba Fine Arts Academy will conduct various contests for children aged between 3 years and 14 years on Saturday at Kamakoti Marriage Hall in Villivakkam. Workshop

Woman killed in accident

A 53-year-old woman died on the spot when an unknown vehicle on Grand Southern Trunk Road in Meenambakkam hit the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion on Thursday night. Fathima, wife of Augustine Raj and a mother of three children, had gone to Little Mount and was waiting at a bus stop to return to her house in Shankar Nagar near Pammal. Durai, a priest who was travelling on a motorcycle, offered a lift to Fathima. When they were travelling near Meenambakkam, an unknown vehicle, suspected to be a bus, hit the motorcycle. In the impact, Fathima fell on the road, sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot. Durai escaped with injuries. Tambaram Traffic police are investigating.
