It has led to a whole new way of working"

CHENNAI:
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has put in place world-class human resource models and was reaping immense benefits as a result of the lean enterprise model it had adopted, Sanjeev Sahi, director (personnel), HAL, said on Thursday.
The lean enterprise model, which involved concepts such as zero tolerance for waste at any level and value addition, led to a whole new way of working at HAL.
The new business paradigm being adopted involved both core competence interests and non-core competence areas, which may be outsourced, he said delivering the 24th Endowment Lecture of IIT-Madras and The Employers Federation of Southern India.
Quality, cost, safety, delivery and morale were the five drivers of performance in the organisation.
Lean enterprise initiatives resulted in bringing down cycle time, increasing capacity and causing less rejection of goods.
M.S. Ananth and S. Santhakumar, director and dean (academic courses) respectively of IIT-Madras and J.N. Amrolia, president, EFSI, were present.
