Additional stoppages for trains

NEW DELHI: For the convenience of rail passengers, the 2279/2280 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jhansi Taj Express and 4311/3212 Bareilly-New Bhuj Ala Hazrat Express trains will be provided stoppages at Datia and Dausa stations, respectively, from January 1 on an experimental basis for six months.

New OSD to Barnala appointed

NEW DELHI: The Tamil Nadu Government has appointed Jasbir Singh Bajaj, Joint Resident Commissioner (JRC) at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi, as Officer on Special Duty in the Capital to Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala.

Mr. Bajaj will continue to discharge the duties of the JRC, according to an official press release.

MCD Selection Grade examination

NEW DELHI: The office of the Chief Auditor of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will soon hold Part-I of the Selection Officers' Grade Examination.

Candidates who have failed to qualify Part-I earlier or have passed the required preliminary test for Part-I examination are advised to collect application forms from the office of Director (Personnel), MCD, at Town Hall. The last date for submission of forms is November 15.

Workshop on corporate strategy

NEW DELHI: The Stanford Centre for Professional Development, an arm of Stanford University, is collaborating with the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) to conduct a three-day workshop on "Dynamic Corporate Strategy" here from November 17.

The programme will include lectures and cases.

Orthopaedic conference

NEW DELHI: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss inaugurated the 51st annual conference of the Indian Orthopaedic Association here on Thursday.

The focus of the conference, whose theme is "Orthopaedic Redefined in the New Millennium", is on scientific discussion of topics like arthroscopy, trauma, tumour, spine, metabolic diseases, bone infections, hand and wrist surgery.

New arrival

NEW DELHI: A new book titled "Jawaharlal Nehru and the Status of Women in India -- An Analytical Study'' was released by Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh here on Thursday.

Authored by Vinod Tagra, who has worked in the Nehru Memorial Library for four years, the book is likely to be useful to scholars.
