NEW DELHI: Expressing concern over the continuing military hostilities, leading to the death of innocent civilians, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday called upon the Sri Lankan Government to take all steps to enforce the ceasefire agreement and provide security to the people of North-Eastern provinces. In a statement, the party Polit Bureau said a number of Tamil people, who were provided shelter in a camp in Vaharai, were killed in shelling by the Sri Lankan army. According to the Government sources itself, 23 people were killed and 125 injured in the attack. ``It is not enough for the Sri Lankan Government to express regret over the incident. It has to ensure the safety of civilian lives and exercise restraint even in the face of provocations by the LTTE,'' the statement said.
