Talent search test draws good response in city

30-minute exam will help acquire necessary skills to perform better

CHENNAI : The citywide Talent Search Test 2006, jointly organised by The Hindu Education Plus and AIMS Education, has so far attracted 180 schools. The drive will go on till November 7 covering more schools.

Current students of classes VIII to XII in the city schools can take the Talent Test in their schools. School heads can contact the AIMS office to register. The test is free and will enable the students to acquire the necessary exam skills and perform better academically.

The test is of 30 minutes with objective questions in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and General Knowledge. As in any advanced level competitive exam, the answer papers, in the form of coding sheets, will be evaluated by a computerised reader.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the toppers and mementos presented to the schools of the toppers.

There will be workshops for the top rankers from each participating school along with invited teachers from these schools. `PROPEL-THE WORKSHOP' will be held on November 15, for students of standards 8, 9, and 10; and on November 16, for those of 11 and 12. Separate invitations will be sent to the school heads for the inaugural function. The workshop will have academic sessions in the forenoon followed by an assessment test in the afternoon. Attractive cash prizes will be awarded to the toppers in the assessment test. Mementos will be presented to their schools. Soft skills, time management techniques, methods of maintenance of psychological poise during stress and the ambience that parents should provide at home for proper learning and competitive performance will be discussed at the workshop by specialists.

An exclusive workshop for parents is also scheduled on November 16 evening for which registration can be done by calling 2433 7997, 2436 4954 and 2435 9822.
