DINDIGUL: The Canara Bank has disbursed educational loan to the tune of Rs.5.6 crore to 341 students for higher education in the district this year, said S. Nagarajan, Deputy General Manager of the bank. In his special address at an inaugural function of an auditorium constructed at cost of Rs.1 lakh in Government Girls Higher Secondary School here on Saturday, he said the bank has been taking part actively in community welfare and development. The auditorium was constructed as part of its centenary celebrations, he said. Inaugurating the auditorium, the Collector, R. Vasuki, expressing her gratitude for the bank's community services, said the bank has also extended total support in implementation of various social welfare schemes. Later, the Collector disbursed educational loan worth Rs.1.02 crore to 63 students and distributed mementoes and certificates to winners of various competitions conducted by the bank. Deputy General Manager P.V. Ramachandran, Chief Educational Officer T. Rajamanickam and Dindigul branch Chief Manager P.R. Pillai spoke on the occasion.
